The Raw Blood Screening Tank is designed for screening and agitating raw blood prior to continuous coagulation and centrifugal dewatering. The open tank can be fabricated from either mild steel or stainless steel plate and measures approximately Ø1525 mm by 2400 mm deep. The unit is supported above floor level on four support legs.

A “U”-shaped drainage trough is fitted to the underside of the tank with two flanged connections, one for the blood pump and one for drainage. A circular mild steel screening plate with Ø20 mm perforations sits on a support ring within the tank and is split for easy removal and cleaning.

A tubular vertical drive shaft runs down the centre of the tank and supports two radial neoprene blades at the bottom of the vessel to create agitation and ensure product movement toward the drainage trough. A second set of blades mounted above the perforated screening plate keeps the screen clear, allowing blood to pass freely through the perforations.

The vertical drive shaft is supported by a spherical roller bearing at the top and driven by a suitably sized geared motor drive. An access ladder is provided to allow safe maintenance and inspection.
