The Ultrablood Process is a continuous system designed for the efficient coagulation, dewatering and drying of raw blood. The process can handle up to 4000 kilograms of blood per hour while reducing labour, space requirements and overall operating costs. The system can also be fully automated for improved operational efficiency.

Raw blood is pumped directly from the blood screening tank by a variable-speed positive displacement pump which regulates the feed rate to the Continuous Coagulator. Temperature is carefully controlled to ensure rapid coagulation and maximum recovery of valuable solids.

Following coagulation, the solids are immediately separated to prevent blood cells from reabsorbing water, which can darken the final product and make drying more difficult. The coagulated solids are separated in a horizontal conveyor centrifuge, where water is discharged through adjustable ports to effluent drainage while solids proceed to the drying stage.

The centrifuge is constructed from stainless steel to ensure durability and ease of cleaning. Final drying can be carried out using a Keith Ring Dryer or a Keith Rotary Dryer, depending on plant configuration and processing requirements.
